Review: Sixty 60 Grocery App Checkers

Lockdown rules have eased, and South Africans can now move around a bit more freely. Although we have more flexibility when it comes to grocery shopping, going to the gym and socialising, the reality is that social distancing has become a part of our new normal.

We’ve done a few reviews on mobile apps that make maintaining this new normal a bit easier, so I decided to try another one.

This time, I was pleasantly surprised with what I experienced:

Checkers is a very well-known brand in South Africa, pioneering quality and affordability in the retail space. In the past few years, they’ve also entertained the little ones (and the adults) in our households with things like mini gardens, mini groceries, Stickeez and many more. They also have a rewards programme called Xtra Savings Rewards, which allows you to up to 25% discount on selected groceries instantly at the till, by simply swiping your reward card. https://www.checkers.co.za/xtra-savings

A few months ago, they set out to launch their Sixty 60 grocery app (https://www.checkers.co.za/sixty60). What an amazing experience!

Downloading the app – easy, it’s available on for Android and iOS devices

Functionality and usability was super easy and the user journey is sleek

Ordering, paying and delivery – easy to link your payment details, they charge a bit more to make provision for if/when they need to choose alternatives to what you’ve chosen, but whatever is extra will be credited to your card. The delivery was done in under 60 minutes, which is great! Speedy and convenient.

Overall, I loved it, and was very impressed! In comparison to my previous review of a grocery app, this one was really a breath of fresh air. I will recommend it to anyone and use it again myself, as it definitely takes the effort out of grocery shopping. The best thing is that they really have a wide variety available, so you can shop mostly anything.
